Changes in the UK Construction Sector and Fresh Opportunities for FRP Composites
[NIACE Centre, Belfast, 10 May 2018]
We are delighted to be hosting a free awareness event at NIACE with Neil Appleton from the National Composite Centre (NCC). This is a great opportunity to discover potential ways of increasing revenue and ensuring competitiveness.
Neil will be outlining changes to the construction sector and how these may open up opportunities for increased use of composite materials, will give a synopis of "the art of the possible" where composites are already used globally and, where possible, give hints on emerging opportuniies.
- Composites uptake in UK construction has been genrally poor and often poorly publicised and limited to niche applications.
- In response to poor productivity and a diminishing skilled wokfoce th UK construction industry is embracing factory manufacture and digital technologies, with potential CR&D funsing fom June/July 2018 under ISCF Transforming Construcion
- Composites processing technologies are improving in performance and cost year on year
- This is opening up wider opportunities for the uptake of composites in new and under-exploited applications in th construction secto
